ARCH ROCK WINS 'BEST OF SENSORS EXPO' AWARD FOR PRIMER PACK/IP WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 26, 2007 - Arch Rock Corporation has been awarded a Sensors Magazine "Best of Sensors Expo" award for its Primer Pack/IP, the first wireless sensor network to offer standards-based Internet Protocol (IP) communication between sensor nodes and other devices on the enterprise network. The award was in the Communication Networking Products category.
The "Best of Sensors Expo" awards honored the most exciting new products on display at the Sensors Expo & Conference, which took place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., June 11-13. Entries were judged on the basis of potential impact, application, distinctiveness, timeliness and availability.
The panel of judges, comprised of the magazine's editorial staff, members of the editorial advisory board and industry experts, included Melanie Martella, executive editor of Sensors; Deborah Lickness, engineer, advanced sensors, John Deere; and Ed Ramsden, product definer, SSIP/SSC, Maxim Integrated Products.
"The awards program recognizes the companies that are truly at the forefront of innovation and leadership in the sensors industry," said Martella. "Choosing the winners from the exceptional pool of candidates was very difficult - there are some truly remarkable products out there."
Primer Pack/IP lets users rapidly create pilot WSNs in manufacturing, office and retail environments using a service-oriented architecture. The standards-based solution incorporates the IETF 6LoWPAN standard for IPv6 communication over low-power wireless radio. Its ability to run native IP to individual sensor nodes enables those nodes to communicate directly with any other IP devices on the enterprise network, promoting the true integration of embedded sensors into the IT infrastructure. Primer Pack/IP "provides one-stop shopping to get wireless sensors integrated into enterprise data systems," commented Ramsden, one of the judges.
